Juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron - 1D4, 500 f/4 IS, f/4.5, 1/250s, ISO 800.

Juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron can be difficult to tell apart from a juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron, but in this case I had several more images of the bird and also knowing the location and time of year am able to be sure it is a YCNH.

I made this image at the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Florida last May. I am looking forward to returning there during our family vacation in February.
